Adding an extra dimension to things...
And a video game update...
Back in August of 2024, I began teaching myself digital sculpture.
Outside of a small group of people in my immediate orbit, I opted not to share any of what I was working on. Instead, I kept everything under wraps until I had something completed that I was comfortable enough with to share.
Now I’ve got a few sculpts and what feels like the prerequisite 10,000 hours to achieve proficiency under my belt, here’s the latest of what I’ve been working on:
Yup- that’s four of the eventual six total members of The Three Stooges.
A little history: Original Stooges Larry Fine, brothers Moe Howard (Morris Horwitz), Shemp Howard (Samuel Horwitz), along with Curly Howard (Jerome Horwitz, who stepped in in 1932 when Shemp branched off while the trio was with MGM) all briefly appeared together one time on screen.
It was a scene in a 1947 Three Stooges short from Columbia Pictures entitled ‘Hold that Lion’. Curly, in real life recovering from a stroke the previous year, leading to Shemp’s subsequent return to the act as 3rd Stooge, had a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo as a sleeping/snoring (non-stooge) passenger on a train, hence the clothespin on the nose gag.
(Apologies to later Stooges Joe Besser & Joe DeRita who didn’t make the cut.)
That scene is the basis of this vignette. Here’s a promotional still from that short:
So that’s that. Once I figure out a few details, the plan is to have this, and a few other models I’m working on, full color and available for purchase. More on that later.
For now, here’s a few more images of this model…

Those last two are simple screenshots, just to show a different light source.
I could go on and on about how all this works, and if there’s interest, I will at some point. For now, I’ll say this: digital sculpture has been far and away the most labor intensive artistic process I’ve ever tackled, as well as being one of the most gratifying.
Quick video game update…
Earlier this year I posted about a cool job I was working on, drawing the map to a HUGE computer game that at the time hadn’t been released officially. I wrote much more in depth about it here…
No, I didn’t do that art, but if you’re a gamer, my art is peppered throughout the game.
Basically I drew the maps of the world this huge game takes place in. In between gameplay sections, the story is, one of the characters you’re playing as is an artist who is visually documenting this new land they’re in. For each pass of whatever section you’re in, the resulting map you can go back and refer to gets more and more detail. When you first see an overview of wherever you are, it’s a light pencil sketch/rough of the area. As you go back and revisit areas, gradually color is added in, details, and all sorts of stuff. Lots of Photoshop layers on my part, along with pretty much complete free rein to throw in whatever gags and Easter eggs I could fit, that could feasibly fit inside this world. (Map 1 does have a McDonalds, but it’s subtle.)
I finished Map 2 a few weeks ago, and the game officially launched in November.
Here’s some spoilers…

Makes me wanna go get a Steam deck and actually play this game! These maps were super fun to do- I totally got lost for hours in these things, just making up towns, creatures, landscapes, all sorts of stuff I rarely get to do. I never saw this one coming.
I’ve done 2 maps so far. If the game does good enough, they’ll definitely be a 3rd… fingers crossed on that!

With that, Happy New Year! More to come in 2026…

Wow! That sculpture is amazing! Wonderful 3D caricatures! Your gets even better every time you show us something new, darn ya!
I can’t wait to see a 3D printed sculpture at some point!
Nyuk, nyuk and Happy New Year.
Congratulations on the sculpture and the maps. I love the detail of the houses that are next to the waterfall.
